Meet Richard Wilkins & Liz Ivory
Introducing Richard Wilkins, the co-founder of Broadband Consciousness with partner and co-founder Liz Ivory have agreed to an exclusive interview.
Richard Wilkins went from being a millionaire living in a mansion to a bankrupt sharing a bedsit.
Liz Ivory grew up on the tough streets of Glasgow and experienced the lot. Both are very lucky and grateful to be here, after nearly taking their own lives!
Many thanks for the granting the interview, I know you two have been on purpose inspiring many others to become who they truly are. I would like the readers out there to get to know a little about you Richard Wilkins and Liz Ivory and why you feel this is so important.
Here Goes…
So, How did you get here?
Liz Ivory: I’d been searching for the answer since I was a little girl, growing up in a council estate in Glasgow. By my early twenties I was a single mother and doing what everybody else thought I should be doing. I was very unhappy, I didn’t think there was another way and nearly succeeded in taking my life when I was just 23. If it wasn’t for my daughter leaving her favourite toy at home, I wouldn’t be here telling my story.
Richard Wilkins: Just over twenty years ago, I was a millionaire, living in a mansion, with four Ferrari’s. I was 37 years of age and I was planning to retire at 40. My business was property development and in the late eighties we experienced a recession. Interest rates rose to just over 15% and financially, it wiped me out. The banks called me in, I had to sell the only problem was, no one was buying. I clung on for as long as I could, but I was fighting a mammoth uphill battle. Finally, I had to concede and ended being a bankrupt living in a bedsit. I hit rock bottom and contemplated taking my own life. I told friends about this, and the breakthrough came when I heard another business owner who also filed for bankruptcy said “I’ll get there”.
My life’s work is to inspire other people and help them get there!
How did Broadband Consciousness come about?
Liz Ivory: Well I’ve done nearly every Personal Development course under the sun. As I tell people I’ve done more courses than Red Rum. I have spent in excess of £40,000 travelling the world, finding out more about who we are? What makes us tick? How to get on purpose? How to improve our life? The list goes on. Not one of those courses showed, taught or inspired the how to in my life.
Richard Wilkins: For the last 18 years I have been an inspirational keynote speaker in many organisations, and published author inspiring others through my books. Speaking to audiences of up to five hundred people and receiving a standing ovation at the end of the talk. Which for some of these organisation, this has been a first.
What I noticed was, as I telling the various groups what to do, how to go about improving their lives, etc. none of them did anything. So I asked them, are any of you going to take action on any of these ideas? Not one hand went up.
The idea for Broadband Consciousness was born – it really is so, so simple. It will show you, the How. How to be on purpose, How to improve your self, How to improve your relationships, How to improve your career, How to improve your health, literally How to improve any aspect of your life.
People have done lots of other courses, why does Broadband Consciousness work?
Richard Wilkins: Let me answer this one Liz
Liz Ivory: Ok
Richard Wilkins: Broadband Consciousness or BC as we like to call it, works. We have had over a 111 people come on our course, they have all fed back testimonial after testimonial, how BC gets stronger with time, how things in their life that used to annoy them don’t anymore. How these everyday people are more relaxed about situations that would normally have caused World War 3. How they have rescued a dire a situation, whether it be a relationship, career decision, financial challenge, being on purpose and health issues – it humbles me how lives are transforming, before our very eyes.
Liz Ivory: You see, many courses try to change a person at a behavioural level. Such as NLP, torture, detention it may work for a very short term – I mean very short term, few days maybe weeks at the most. This is why so many ex-prisoners reoffend. This is why so many people make the same mistakes over and over again. Somewhere, some how, some one has influenced the system to suggest that people can be corrected from a behavioural level. And this is totally wrong.
Richard Wilkins: And may I just add, the people from our course that have made the decision to come through those doors have said how BC works whether your happy or not. And what BC does, it gives people like you and I, a choice. Let me ask you interviewer would you choose to feel happy or sad? Would you choose to enjoy the future before it happens or worry about the future?
Interviewer: I would say happy and enjoy the future
Richard Wilkins: And what do you actually do?
Interviewer: I tend to worry about the future
Richard Wilkins: That is not uncommon. Most people will respond by saying exactly the same. They would rather be happy and enjoy the future and when you ask them what do you actually do? They tend be low or sad and worry about tomorrow – well, guess what is going to happen?
What would you say is the main difference between BC and doing a course from one the teachers featured in The Secret?
Liz Ivory: As I mentioned earlier, I have done more courses than Red Rum and the massive difference why so many courses do not work is because they are trying to guide you through their information maze at a behavioural level. BC works through inspiring you. We get people to change at an identity level. You can’t change the tide by standing in the sea and waving at it, in order to change the tide you have to go the moon.
Richard Wilkins: One of my quotes I use is “Information through intelligence just clutters the brain. Inspiring others does to humans as hot air does to a balloon.” And as Liz said, we inspire you and that is why so many get BC. It is as simple as ABC, there is no next level. This is the only course we run, we don’t repackage our course and tell our customer database that they are ready for the next level.
People love reading self help books, why do they not work?
Richard Wilkins: A lot of self help books, DVDs, are well intentioned and can have a positive impact for a short while. Again, readers will try and change things at a behavioural level, which, as we have established only works in the short term. The problem is nobody has held the hand of the reader and showed them the how. What eventually happens is people will buy more and more books, all saying pretty much the same stuff and yet, not moving to where they want to be. Broadband Consciousness will show people the how.
Liz Ivory: Another quote I use is “Reading more is a clever way to disguise what we already know.”
We’re in the midst of a recession how will this help a person with financial difficulties or in a job they dislike?
Liz Ivory: If people are in a job they dislike or financial difficulty, I would say they are not choosing. I know that sounds a bit harsh, but would they choose to be in that situation? We have had people with highly paid jobs, drive Mercedes, BMW’s or Bentley’s leave their highly paid, highly respected position to follow their dreams. We’ve had people on an average salary hand in their notice because they realised the job they were in, was not for them. We’ve had people who are in debt who have turned their situation around. Some of these still have issues, but now they choose to feel how it affects them.
Richard Wilkins: Of these that have quit, they didn’t know how things were going work out, how the bills were going to be paid, call it what you will, some say the universe, some say infinite source, I call it the cosmic google – they really did just trust the process. And the cosmic google answered their call.
You must hear “I’m fine or happy as I am” What would you say to that person?
Richard Wilkins: I can give you a very short answer, if a person says he or she is happy – I would say to that person you are right.
Liz Ivory: And I would say to that person this isn’t for you.
Wow, that was to quick fire, certain answer. You mentioned earlier this works whether you are happy or not? Well nearly everything works when you’re in a happy mood and not much in a sad mood – how does it work if you’re sad?
Richard Wilkins: You’ve heard the saying resistance is futile. Well the common mistake made by so many is they resist change. Resistance becomes a strain, strain leads to stress and eventually the body will give a signal that its under stress and will cause you to come down with something. What we say to all our courses attendees, is notice where your energy levels are at. Are you feeling low? Would you choose to feel this way? If you wouldn’t choose to feel this way, you are simply not choosing.
Liz Ivory: I asked them, what would they choose? It’s certainly not feeling low is what all of them tell me. As Richard said, the body will send a signal to say ‘all is not well’ and some people will come down with the flu, some will develop some other complication, some people become anxious and / or depressed and unfortunately some have taken their own lives.
This is why we are so passionate about what we do and inspire others to really choose the life they want to live. Not remain in a lockstep, robotised, mono-chrome, rat-race existence. HELLO, there is whole world out there.
Richard Wilkins: BC really works because we’ve had people who have done the course who have for years suffered in health with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), degenerative eye disorder, one guy was on anxiety tablets for 20 years and within a very short space of time, they have all come off the prescription tablets and overcome the health issues because its been reinforced so much by so called health professionals that this becomes their mantra. Well not anymore.
This is why Broadband Consciousness works whether you are happy or not.
You mentioned purpose earlier on, how does somebody get to grips with their true purpose / potential?
Richard Wilkins: There is something we have devised called the sausage machine and it is really simple. Basically, what you put in, is what you will get out. Let me explain, if you put worry, fear, doubt in, guess what is going to come out the other end? Yes, correct fear, doubt and worry. If you put in fun, laughter and joy, guess what’s going to come out the side? Yes, laughter, fun and joy.
Liz Ivory: Most people wait on the other side for all things to come to them, well, I’ve got some bad news – it ain’t going to happen if you wait, without putting the right ingredients in first.
So if it is success you want, guess what you need to put in? Yes, success.
In a few words of wisdom and if your life depending on it – what words of wisdom would you part with, for people reading this?
Liz Ivory: I’ll use one of Gandhi’s quotes – “Be the change you want to see in the world”
Richard Wilkins: Be On Purpose, that will stop the civil war.
