Dreams Have Meanings
I would like to tell you of a dream I had and hopefully its significant message. Hopefully, it will inspire you as well. Ok, relax, here goes:
A Bit Background First: Two months ago my garden shed got broken into and my lawnmower was stolen. Bit of tough love, I never locked the shed in two years – hindsight is a wonderful thing. No real harm done, it’s a piece of metal with four wheels and an engine. No further damage and we were all safe and fast asleep.
The Dream: A month or two later, I dreamt that I had been broken into again! Forcing myself to wake up and looking outside to see the fence panels broken and the side panel of the shed smashed (but I was still in this deep dream). Because the culprit was busy that night he also robbed what looked like the whole city! I got a tip off where he was and if I were fast enough I’d get there before the cops did.
I was too late the cops had apprehended him but was left outside the police van. I got to him and asked if he took my lawnmower for which he was honest and said he had. I asked him “what shall I do with you?” and he said, “It’s up to you”. There were processions of people claiming back their stolen goods, hundreds of suitcases, bikes, you name it – it was there.
Couple of my friends turned up and I asked them “what shall I do with him?” they too replied, “It’s up to you”. I asked again “what shall I do?” Again they replied “It’s up to you, we can’t make that decision for you”
I woke up not long after and really honed in on the answers – “It’s Up To You. It Really Is Up To You”!
I then read this in an email that I subscribe to and it ties in nicely with the above point:
1. You must personally choose your own success path.
I’m often asked by subscribers to provide the perfect success path.
I can’t really do that. You must individually decide what you wish to do with your business and your life. Clearly, what’s ideal for someone else, of course, is almost always not the right direction for you.
I love the book by Marlo Thomas entitled “The Right Words at the Right Time.”
During her teen years Marlo asked her Dad, the late comedian Danny Thomas, this question. “What’s the best career path for me?”
Danny answered this question with a special gift to her on her 18th birthday. A set of horse blinders. His gift card said “You’ve Got To Run Your Own Race.” I fully endorse his advice.
